  Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions regarding "attention seekers"?

  we all love it when people pay attention to us or our opinions.

  but what i am talking about is people who crave and force attention from others.

  not just people who talk a lot, but those that force everyone around them to focus on them and them only.. in one of my classes there is a woman who raises her hand to ask a question, but never really has a question to ask.

  I gave her 5 minutes, and then I said, "Well, I have to go, thank you for the chat" and I walked away.

  So, my way is usually to give the person the benefit of the doubt at first. I talk a lot myself anyway, so I try to be cool. But when it becomes obvious that their motive is only to take up others' time, then I give them a minute or two, and then I say thanks and walk away no matter if they keep talking. If someone phones me like that, I talk for a couple of minutes, then I say goodbye and hang up.

  Okay...... Reniaa has now had over an hours attention on this thread. So has everyone on here got the ability to not answer or reply to her, taking away the attention that she craves….???

  well after 2 weeks in and out of labor, my daughter had my very first grandchild at 7 this morning.... .

  she was 9 lbs 2 oz....and 22 inches long...... .

  that's a lot of baby to push out..... .

  Creator or Evolution? Confused...

  i don't feel i have to know the truth about how life started or where we're coming from etc, but can't help thinking abt it anyway now and then.

  guess it's only natural.. right now i feel really clueless and that i have too little knowledge abt the darwin, big bang theory.... (i was always taught by the dubs that darwin questioned his own theory...but was it really so?)..

  i have a close friend who's sure of the evolution but can really the complex and wonderful life and nature come abt by chance (even though he says it's not chance...).

  I’d go for procreation personally, because if you have enough of that in theory and practice you really wouldn’t care less about all the other stuff…..

  Puppeting the Message

  quite a few years back i had various pioneer friends who were asked to give experiences at the circuit conventions.. they were to write up there experience first give it to the elder and they would go over it.. however, when it came time for this the elder who was giving the part decided to change their experience and it did not.

  and was not even truthful now, it was not how it happened.

  my one friend in particular was very upset about this because.

  Next you’ll be saying that the stories in the back of ‘Playboy Magazine’ aren’t true either……..

  i was that one way to increase my field service time for me and my wife was by standing at a truck stop and hand out tapes to truckers in the early mornings.

  this is the same lot that is frequented by drug dealers and hookers.

  another time, while studying, i said i did not understand the blood issue.

  I went back to the meetings with the questions that would finally take me out of the 'truth'. The ‘Generation that will by no means pass away’ was one of the first things I enquired about (being that I was in when I was younger and went back when 21), the validity of their interpretation of Daniel, 1290 days, 1335 days, Cedar Point Ohio, the 2300 evenings and mornings, 1975, Beth-sarim.

  I wasn’t a usual study by any means, but I knew about these things before I went back, but followed the advice given me to put them all on the back burner. How foolish I was…..

  WHY DOES ‘UNDERSTANDING’ WOMEN CAUSE SUCH AN IMPACT…??

  i bumped into this reaction (nearly called it a problem) when i was a jw.

  being that single sisters were out of bounds to chat to (unless you were thinking of marrying them), i thought that it was a safe(er) option to chat to married sisters.

  i reasoned that they would have been happy in their marriage so chatting to them wouldnt be such a problem.

  I bumped into this reaction (nearly called it a problem) when I was a JW. Being that single ‘sisters’ were out of bounds to chat to (unless you were thinking of marrying them), I thought that it was a safe(er) option to chat to married ‘sisters’. I reasoned that they would have been happy in their marriage so chatting to them wouldn’t be such a problem. Or so I thought…..

  The problem is (and this is not said as any kind of brag) that I show a lot of understanding in my conversation. This provoked an emotional reaction and went onto cause problems in the friendship and would usually end them. I was totally perplexed until a close (female) friend of mine took me to one side and said accusingly “it’s your fault, you’re just too understanding…!!”.

  I was only young and just enjoyed female company, and didn’t understand what I was doing. I do understand it a little more now but the reaction still perplexes me somewhat. I can’t talk for all men, but from a mans perspective, if I am understood, I just get the feeling of relief that someone knows what I am going through. A deep sigh and that is that. But despite asking numerous women I am friends with, I still don’t know the mechanics of why understanding causes such a huge emotional reaction.

  So is there a way of explaining it……???

  COULD ‘ANYONE’ SUFFER FROM DEPRESSION….??

  being in the organisation for most of my life i have seen so many people suffering with depression.

  but a friend of mine recently said that it was impossible for them to suffer from the condition, because of the mental strategies they have in place to cope with hard times, and a mental resilience that they attained from a balanced stable upbringing..... .

  could it be true that some people have a natural immunity to such a debilitating mental condition....???.

  Regional Identities in the UK - A short guide for Americans

  so the uk is divided into 4 separate countries - the big bit called england that has wales on the side and scotland at the top with northern ireland off on its own island.. each country has multiple cultural identities.

  broadly speaking (and i generalize) the wealth of england (and the uk generally) is concentrated in london, the 'rust belt' is in the middle namely birmingham and manchester and the north of england tends to be poorer.. scotland - where i'm from - is culturally rich but economically poor.

  there is a long-standing argument about how wealthy scotland could have been if it had been able to keep all the north sea oil revenue instead of sending it to london.

  Deep fried in batter and combined with fries and brown sauce it makes a popular end to a beery evening :-)

  Arrrrh….. Scottish cuisine…. Deep fry just about everything……

  Although, rumour has it that Britain’s most popular dish was invented in Scotland, when an Indian restaurant was opened and they served Chicken Tikka for the very first time, but because it is a dry dish, and apparently not good enough for the Scott’s, one of them decided to ask the waiter if he could have his Indian dish with ‘gravy’, at which the chef got some tomato sauce and threw a few spices into it and mixed it with the meat, inventing what is now the most popular dish ordered in Britain….. Chicken Tikka Masala…….

  I live in Buckinghamshire, one of the beautiful home counties just outside London. Out here the air is breathable (compared to the city) and we also enjoy the luxury of changing gear in our motor vehicles (unlike Londoners who are always stuck in gridlock), but we are just an hour away from the London nightlife (if that is your kind of thing). London has a wonderful atmosphere, is very cosmopolitan, and a great place to hang out day or night.

  But out here in the home counties we enjoy magnificent scenery, not with the same ruggedness as Scotland, but with the beauty and serenity of old English charm. Dotted around the prestigious area here are a lot of the rich and famous, and this is very good for employment. This is where we spend all of the money made from north sea oil, among other things.

  It is a great place to stay if you would like to see London, but also has great access to the rest of the country. Oh, and we all have the lovely English accent and drink tea, play cricket and are just so polite and gentlemanly and well mannered. We would be delighted if any foreigner would care to visit. Our hospitality is second to none…….

  PS Oh.. and just a word of warning….. up north is a bit of a shit hole to be honest………
